The Tottenham defender found the net twice as Tottenham prolonged their winning streak on the road in the top division and delivered the Toffees their initial loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton were unbeaten in their last five matches at their recently opened stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, having left Goodison Park behind after 133 years at the end of last season.

But Spurs captain Van de Ven pounced on two occasions from corners in the opening 45 minutes to put their impressive record at risk, and they were failed to mount a comeback before the midfielder - assisted by former Toffees attacker the Brazilian - nodded in a third to put the game to bed.

The Everton defender believed he had equalized the scores five minutes after the defender's first goal, directing a powerful header past the Spurs keeper from an Everton corner.

The Portuguese striker, in the meantime, failed to convert a handful of opportunities, while Vicario made a succession of excellent saves to ensure the London club went five away games unbeaten in the Premier League.

But the VAR stepped in, advising the match official to review the goal on the screen and the official ruled that Jack Grealish and the attacker were in offside positions and had impeded with the Spurs keeper.

The win moves the manager's side into third place in the Premier League, a handful of points off north London rivals and leaders the Gunners.

The Merseyside club remain in 14th position and sit six points clear of the drop zone.

Spurs breakdown: Van de Ven excels in duties at both ends of the field

Following a drab midweek performance in the European competition against Monaco, where they managed a only two shots on goal, the manager opted for Randal Kolo Muani in attack instead of ex-Everton forward Richarlison.

The summer signing was failed to influence the game before being substituted for Richarlison after 60 minutes on the field, but it turns out he proved unnecessary in the final outcome.

Centre-back Van de Ven converted into an attacking force to be reckoned with.

Spurs' first goal came from a well-worked set-piece play, with Rodrigo Bentancur directing the ball toward the six-yard box for an free the defender to score.

And Ven de Ven - filling in as skipper in Cristian Romero's absence - added his second in added time as he rose above the England keeper to nod in.

The Dutchman was just as outstanding in defensive duties, partnering well with Kevin Danso as the pair handled superbly with the numerous deliveries sent their way by Everton.

Everton analysis: Toffees lacking finishing touch

The club's new home had been a happy hunting ground, but it seems the novelty may have worn off somewhat and fans flocked to the gates after Sarr's third for Spurs.

The end in Everton's unbeaten home run won't be a massive concern for David Moyes, but their striker situation will be.

The forward and the other striker - the Everton's two established strikers - had scored only one league goal combined before the weekend's match.

And they were failed to contribute to that poor tally on a damp and dreary night on Merseyside.

Beto's form was epitomized when he chose to overhead kick a clear chance from near the goal, despite having space and time to readjust for a simpler shot that would have tested the keeper.

The substitute, as well, was unable to influence the game after coming on for Beto in the 65th minute.

It was not for a lack of opportunity. The majority of Everton's attacks came through Grealish and the forward, who relentlessly delivered dangerous crosses into the Spurs penalty area.
