Several Injured as Rough Air Hits A Delta Airlines Plane into Sydney, Australia
A number of individuals have been injured when a Delta Airlines flight originating in LA to Sydney, Australia experienced rough air Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier told. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.
Emergency medical services stated they evaluated a total of five people, and transferred three to a medical facility with relatively minor issues that included pain in the back and migraines. Those affected spanned from their 30s to 70s.
This marks the latest incident of commercial jets experiencing severe turbulence, with aviation specialists pointing out that global warming is a significant contributor.
There were nearly 250 travelers and a crew of 15 on the aircraft, the official added, clarifying that the plane arrived "without further incident" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday.
The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they received a call just three minutes ahead of the plane arrived, and response teams were standing by on the runway.
